2011 Courses for Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Professionals

Fee: $50 for each course (6 CEUs), unless noted otherwise. Workshop certificates of attendance are given at the end of the workshop after completing the full 6 hours. State required trainings are not eligible for discounts and do not count for CEU’s.
Courses are recommended for: mental health professionals: substance abuse counselors, social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, school counselors.

The 12 Core Functions of the Substance Abuse Counselor

The twelve core functions of the substance abuse counselor incorporate all the core skills needed to practice professional substance abuse counseling. From intake to treatment planning, from case management to consultation, participants will learn, understand and practice the core skills. Workshop is an excellent preparation for taking the state NCSAPPB certification exams.

Peer Support Specialist Training

Monday- Friday 8:00 a.m. until noon
Peer Support Specialist Training is designed for individuals who have personal experience with mental illness and/or addictive disorders and are interested in helping others achieve their goals through recovery and wellness. This training meets the requirements set forth by the NC Behavioral Health Resource Program and the Division of MH/DD/SAS (www.ncdhhs.gov/mhddsas) as a necessary pre-requisite for NC Peer Support Specialists Certification. Certification Type: PSS-MH, Cost: $250

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Models in both Mental Health and Substance Abuse

Learn and practice 2 cognitive behavioral counseling models, CBT and REBT focusing on both mental health and the substance abusing client. Identify and overcome difficulties in utilizing cognitive behavioral counseling skills. Workshop will emphasize observing and modeling counseling skills in small and large groups. This will be small on PowerPoint and large on practice time!
